Owner operator opportunities
Pull Odyssey freight with your own truck on cross-border and Canadian lanes out of Dieppe, NB and Calgary, AB. Consistent work, straight answers about what a load pays, and a dispatcher whose job is to keep you moving in the direction you want to go.
The arrangement
Your truck, our freight, and clear terms
An owner operator is running a business, not just a truck. What that business needs from a carrier is predictable freight and honest numbers — in that order.
Our freight is full truckload, dry van and temperature-controlled, moving between Canada and the United States. Those lanes repeat, which is the part that matters when you own the equipment: a lane you can plan a month around is worth more than a one-off that pays a little better and strands you.
You will know what a load pays before you accept it, and you will be talking to the person who planned it rather than to a queue. If a lane does not work for your truck or your week, say so — we would rather give it to another driver than have you take a load you did not want.
- Repeatable lanes instead of random one-offs
- Cross-border freight available in both directions
- What the load pays, discussed before you take it
- A direct line to the person planning the freight
What you need
Before we can put freight on your truck
The requirements are the ones the work itself imposes — a legal truck, a legal driver and the ability to cross if you want the cross-border lanes.
- Valid Class 1 licence (Class AZ in Ontario)
- Your own tractor, road-legal and in good working order
- Your own operating paperwork and insurance in place
- A driver's abstract we can keep on file
- Documents that allow entry into the United States, for cross-border work
Rates, settlement terms and what we cover are discussed directly. Every owner operator's cost base is different, so a number posted on a web page would be meaningless. Call and we will give you real figures for real lanes.
Working together
How a load reaches your truck
We call with the lane
Pickup, delivery, dates, the commodity, and what it pays. Before you commit, not after.
You decide
If it does not fit your week or your equipment, it goes to someone else and nothing is held against you.
We prepare the crossing
On cross-border loads the PAPS or PARS number is with the broker before you reach the port of entry.
Delivered and settled
Paperwork in, settlement on the agreed terms, and the next lane already being planned.
